System Administrator

Our client, a growing fintech firm, is seeking a System Administrator to oversee the implementation, configuration, optimization, and reliable operation of their high-performance trading platform and IT infrastructure. This role is crucial for ensuring the performance, reliability, and security of their platforms and Linux/Windows infrastructure while working closely with engineering, operations, and support teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the deployment, configuration, and optimization of IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and cloud environments.
Provide end-user support and technical assistance, resolving hardware and software issues efficiently while improving overall IT support processes.
Administer backup and disaster recovery strategies, ensuring data integrity and rapid restoration when needed.
Implement and manage system upgrades, security patches, and performance enhancements to ensure seamless operations.
Develop and maintain detailed IT documentation, including system architecture, operational procedures, and upgrade plans.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science or a related field
2+ years of experience in system administration, preferably in a trading or financial services environment
Experience with Windows and Linux environments
Experience with cloud platforms and virtualization technologies
Scripting proficiency in Bash, Python, or PowerShell
Networking and security fundamentals, including firewalls and VPNs
Familiarity with monitoring tools
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
This is an onsite position working at the client’s Chicago office.
