Senior IT Systems Administrator
Location: Charlottesville, VA (Hybrid – occasional travel to Luray, VA and North Forks in Albemarle County)
Clearance Required: Active Secret clearance (or ability to obtain DoD clearance)
Salary: $110,000
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior IT Systems Administrator to manage, secure, and optimize IT systems and networks across multiple Microsoft 365 domains. This hybrid role requires a seasoned professional with strong technical expertise, compliance knowledge, and the ability to support mission-critical operations.
The ideal candidate will bring 8+ years of IT experience, compliance framework expertise (NIST, HIPAA, ISO), and hands-on skills in networking, cybersecurity, Microsoft 365, and systems administration.
Responsibilities
- Systems & User Support
- Administer Microsoft 365 domains (Business & GCCH).
- Manage Exchange, SharePoint, Teams applications.
- Provide desk-side and remote IT support to staff.
- Operate cloud-based help desk, inventory, and contract management systems.
- Infrastructure & Security
- Manage SCCM for remote access and patching.
- Administer VOIP systems.
- Perform and document daily security checks of cloud-based systems.
- Ensure compliance with DFARS, CMMC, and NIST 800-171/800-53 standards.
- Support cybersecurity readiness and system hardening efforts.
- Strategic IT Operations
- Research, recommend, and implement IT solutions.
- Plan and coordinate IT projects across multiple departments.
- Contribute to compliance planning and security program management.
- Maintain backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity systems.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a computer-related field.
- 8+ years of IT experience, including 3+ years in a senior or management role.
- Compliance framework experience (NIST, HIPAA, ISO).
- 5+ years professional experience in networking and cybersecurity.
- 5+ years PC hardware and Microsoft 365 support.
- Hands-on experience with NIST 800-171 / 800-53, CMMC, DFARS.
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry certifications: CCNA, MCP, MCSA, MCSE, CISM, CCISO, CRISC, CISSP.
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Server (2008/2012/2016), Active Directory, Exchange, SQL, WSUS.
- VMware expertise.
- Knowledge of network security systems, antivirus/anti-malware tools, TCP/IP networking (routers, switches, firewalls).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Azure, Office 365, MS Office 2016, Windows 7/10.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Availability after hours for critical issues and deployments.
