About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Risk Officer to join and help build a high-performance ETF market-making entity from the ground up. This individual will play a foundational role in establishing the firm's risk framework, policies, infrastructure, and culture, with a particular focus on ETF hedging and trading risk.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of a newly established trading business, where your insights will directly shape how risk is managed acrossstrategy, operations, and technology. You will work closely with trading, technology, operations, and compliance to ensure the firm maintains a robust risk posture while enabling innovation and growth.
Key Responsibilities
• Risk Framework Design: Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management framework tailored to a market-making and ETF trading environment, including market, liquidity, operational, and model risks.
• ETF Hedging Oversight: Provide expertise in the risk dynamics of ETF creation/redemption, delta hedging, and basis risk across asset classes (equity, fixed income, derivatives).
• Real-Time Risk Monitoring: Build or select appropriate tools and systems to monitor trading risk in real-time across desks, instruments, and strategies.
• Policy & Limits: Define, implement, and enforce risk limits for traders and strategies, ensuring adherence to firmwide risk appetite.
• Capital & Inventory Risk: Partner with finance and trading teams to manage capital at risk, inventory exposure, and balance sheet usage effectively.
• Team Building: Hire, train, and lead a high-quality risk team as the business grows.
• Technology & Infrastructure: Collaborate with technology teams to integrate risk analytics, reporting systems, and controls into front-office and middle-office platforms.
• Governance & Reporting: Develop clear and actionable reporting for senior leadership and regulators; prepare materials for Board-level risk reviews.
• Cross-Functional Leadership: Act as a key liaison between trading, compliance, legal, and operations on all risk-related matters.
