The Systems Administrator I is an entry level position, responsible for the operation and support of enterprise software systems and the related application infrastructure. This individual requires supervision but will also work independently. This individual ensures that software systems, business data and related procedures adhere to organizational standards and goals.
The Systems Administrator I serves as an escalation point for IT Support and business teams.
Job Duties And Responsibilities
SysAdmin Duties (30%)
- Administers corporate software systems and the related infrastructure
- Monitors corporate software systems and the related infrastructure
- Improves corporate software systems and the related infrastructure
- Contributes to peer knowledge-sharing and process improvement
SysAdmin I Tasks and Knowledge Sharing (60%)
- Assists with system issues, support requests, projects, and improvement tasks
- Contributes to peer knowledge-sharing and process improvement
Documentation (10%)
Create and maintain systems documentation
Qualifications (Education, Experience, Certifications & KSA)
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred
- 0 – 1 year work related experience
- Required: Experience administering all modern versions of Microsoft Server with some supervision. Linux experience, in addition, is a plus
- Required: Working knowledge of all modern versions of IIS, web servers, and Windows services. Apache experience, in addition, is a plus
- Required: Working knowledge of server administration in a Cloud and VM environment
- Required: Working knowledge of enterprise networking (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, FTP, DMZ, Active Directory, SSL/TLS)
- Required: Working knowledge of validating and executing basic Microsoft SQL Server queries
- Preferred: Experience with system monitoring and troubleshooting resources (e.g., Solarwinds, SOAPSonar, ProcMon) is a plus
- Required: Understanding of file system security permissions
- Preferred: Ability to read and write basic code (e.g., javascript, c#, powershell) is a plus
