Role DescriptionThe Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is responsible for driving Bypass Smartways’ technology vision and execution.
This is a senior, full-time leadership role, based at Stanford, CA or Hybrid in Nairobi, Kenya.
The CTO will:
- Define and execute the company’s overall technology and product architecture strategy.
- Lead engineering, data, and security teams in building a deterministic fiscal compliance state machine.
- Ensure that all software development aligns with regulatory, operational, and commercial goals.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to deliver high-impact, audit-grade solutions.
- Balance innovation with disciplined engineering — transforming complexity into clarity, and compliance into value.
Qualifications- Proven proficiency in software development and product engineering.
- Experience in project management and IT strategy execution.
- Demonstrated expertise in system architecture and infrastructure design.
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills in fast-paced environments.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Prior experience in fintech, regtech, or compliance automation is a strong advantage.
- Experience leading distributed or hybrid engineering teams is preferred.
