Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Appian Administrator to lead and support the migration of Appian applications from an on-premises Linux environment to AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS). This role is 90% focused on migration activities and requires hands-on experience with both on-premise Appian administration and cloud deployment. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in Appian infrastructure management, cloud migration, container orchestration, and DevOps integration to ensure a smooth transition and stable operations in AWS.
You will join a collaborative team of five and work closely with infrastructure, DevOps, and security teams to design, implement, and optimize containerized Appian solutions in the cloud.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the migration of Appian environments from on-premises Linux to AWS EKS.
- Administer, configure, and maintain multiple Appian environments (on-prem and cloud).
- Set up and manage Appian Docker containers, Helm configurations, and Kubernetes clusters.
- Oversee installation, patching, upgrades, and hotfixes for Appian (version 21.x or later).
- Manage database migrations (from DB2 to PostgreSQL) and ensure application and plugin compatibility post-migration.
- Work closely with InfoSec for image scanning, vulnerability remediation, and compliance.
- Support performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting of Appian environments.
- Collaborate with DevOps and Cloud teams to streamline deployment pipelines and automation processes.
- Create and maintain detailed runbooks, SOPs, and architecture documentation.
- Provide support for data synchronization and Appian-PostgreSQL integration.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience as an Appian Administrator (version 21.x or later).
- Proven expertise managing Appian in on-premises environments and migrating to cloud (AWS EKS preferred).
- Strong knowledge of Linux administration, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and AWS services (ECR, S3, IAM, CloudWatch).
- Experience setting up clusters and managing Appian container environments.
- Practical experience with EFS (Elastic File System) and ASM (Amazon Secrets Manager).
- Experience managing Appian integrations (LDAP, SSO, SMTP, Secrets Management, Databases).
- Familiarity with Appian automation, CI/CD pipelines, and plugin management.
- Strong understanding of data synchronization and ETL integration concepts.
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Appian development in addition to administration.
- Experience in financial services or other regulated environments.
- Familiarity with HashiCorp Vault, CyberArk, or Elastic for secrets management.
- Experience with Goldfield/Private Cloud or enterprise-level cloud migration projects.
- Appian Administrator or DevOps certification is a plus.
