The Jr. Network Engineer will collaborate with regional and global IT teams to support the full lifecycle of enterprise and operational technology (OT) networks. This role focuses on ensuring high levels of network availability, performance, and security across all business locations.
Responsibilities
- Support the deployment and maintenance of network architecture and roadmaps in alignment with corporate IT strategy.
- Manage network infrastructure troubleshooting, changes, and small to mid-size projects across local and regional sites.
- Provide technical consultation and subject matter expertise to internal teams.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance network reliability and efficiency.
- Monitor network performance, resolve issues and outages, and recommend improvements to optimize architecture and stability.
- Analyze network usage trends and assist in planning capacity expansion or enhancements to meet business needs.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure project delivery aligns with business requirements.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, engineering, and IT, in a collaborative environment.
- Adhere to all organizational safety, quality, and compliance standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation and data entry related to network operations and changes.
Key Accountabilities
- Support and implement technical solutions for WAN, LAN, and related network connectivity.
- Assist with routers, firewalls, remote access, and VoIP system support.
- Execute network configuration changes and support enhancement initiatives.
- Perform network assessments and security audits.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation for network design and operations.
- Monitor and test network systems to identify bottlenecks and recommend improvements.
- Manage hardware replacements, firmware updates, and system upgrades.
- Provide guidance to internal teams on infrastructure best practices.
- Participate in incident, problem, and change management processes.
- Enforce network security policies and monitor access controls.
Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience supporting enterprise-level network environments.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex network performance and communication issues.
- Hands-on knowledge in:
- Cisco networking (switches, routers, firewalls, wireless controllers, etc.)
- VoIP systems and network configuration (Microsoft Teams a plus)
- VLANs, QoS, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), DHCP, NAT, VPNs, IPSec tunnels
- Network monitoring and diagnostic tools (e.g., Wireshark, SolarWinds)
- Familiarity with:
- Cloud-based security platforms (e.g., Zscaler)
- SD-WAN technologies
- Industrial/OT network environments
- Strong documentation and communication abilities, including experience using Visio.
- Basic project management experience.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) preferred.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to perform effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Analytical and pragmatic approach to problem-solving with a focus on continuous improvement.
