Overview
We’re seeking a System Administrator to join our clients team on a PROJECT basis through the end of 2025 (potentially into early next year). This role is responsible for maintaining, securing, and optimizing the organization’s IT infrastructure — including servers (on-prem and cloud), networks, virtualization platforms, storage systems, and business applications.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on, solutions-driven IT professional who ensures system reliability, data integrity, and secure access across environments while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality technical support.
Key Responsibilities
Server & Infrastructure Management
- Administer and maintain Windows Server environments (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy)
- Manage virtualization platforms such as Nutanix AHV, VMware, or Hyper-V
- Maintain system backups, disaster recovery, and replication strategies
- Support file servers, print services, and shared storage (SAN/NAS)
Cloud & Identity Management
- Support and administer Microsoft 365 and Azure Active Directory (Entra ID)
- Manage hybrid AD sync and conditional access policies
- Implement and maintain cloud resources (VMs, storage, networking)
- Automate administrative tasks using PowerShell or Azure CLI
Network & Security Operations
- Manage switches, firewalls, and VPN appliances; troubleshoot connectivity issues
- Monitor network health and apply security best practices
- Maintain endpoint protection, patch management, and vulnerability remediation
- Collaborate with security and compliance teams to align with corporate standards
User & Application Support
- Provide advanced support for end users and resolve escalated help desk tickets
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and licensing across systems
Monitoring & Optimization
- Implement and maintain system monitoring and alerting tools
- Conduct capacity planning, performance tuning, and lifecycle management
- Document configurations, procedures, and technical standards
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3–5 years of experience in system administration, preferably in a hybrid (on-prem/cloud) environment
- Proficiency with Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 administration
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, firewalls)
- Scripting skills (PowerShell preferred)
- Experience with Azure; familiarity with Nutanix AHV a plus
- Knowledge of security frameworks (Zero Trust, CIS benchmarks)
- Experience with backup, monitoring, and automation tools
