Our client is developing a novel neuro endovascular robot, enabling neuro interventionalists to navigate delicate vessels and perform complex procedures like thrombectomy and aneurysm repair with sub-millimetric precision. The goal is to make time-critical interventions available to patients regardless of where they live, when every minute matters.
The CTO leads the development of new products and the sustaining of future released products for the company, leading a team of engineers in Houston, Texas and Seoul, Korea. This role reports to the Chief Executive Officer.
This role will lead in a hands-on manner and will demonstrate alignment with the company’s mission, policies, and core business values. The CTO will collaborate with internal and external teams and across multiple levels of personnel inside the company to implement and direct a comprehensive product management strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a strong innovative future pipeline which requires technical expertise, detail-oriented real time project management success, and strong business acumen in a high growth business with a fast pace of innovation.
- Directs, designs and implements a comprehensive product management strategy.
- Functions as the central resource with design, manufacturing, quality and test, and marketing as the product(s) move to completion and distribution.
- Directs those involved in the design, modification, and evaluation of all phases of a specific product or group of products from product definition through production and release (i.e., Product Lifecycle Management).
- Ensures that products meet specifications, standards and quality goals.
- Formulates and executes long-term plans for cost/profit control.
- Promotes use of new technologies and industry-leading trends to product management activities.
- Select, develop, mentor and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the R&D project execution.
- Responsible for collaborating across the organization, recommending programs or projects and conceptualizing and developing new approaches.
- Identify, initiate, establish and develop long-term strategic relationships and alliances with key organizational stakeholders and serve as principal spokesperson for their department making recommendations to leaders and executives regarding strategic initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex manufacturing technologies and developing financial plans to make technology investments to return positive financial returns.
- Ability to interface with customers, build collaborative relationships, problem solve and drive solutions to meet customer requirements.
- Knowledge of FDA Good Manufacturing Practices, ISO 13485-2016 and 14971, and 510k.
- Strong knowledge of the manufacturing environment using Lean Manufacturing and quality controls with a passion for relentless continuous process improvement.
- Must understand the complexity of the business and be able to navigate and communicate effectively within a matrix structure at the site and global level.
- Has experience in working in high performance organizations and has a proven track record of developing high performing teams and fostering a positive culture with a high degree of integrity and professionalism.
- Ability to concisely communicate status, needs, forecasts, risks and timelines effectively to executive team and all levels of the organization (one-on-one and large groups).
- Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze, understand and effectively communicate deep technical material to all levels of the organization.
- Must be a detail and goal orientated, self-motivated individual with the ability to multi-task
- Ability to travel internationally.
- Great interpersonal skills and works well across the matrix with cross-functional teams in Quality, Regulatory, Operations and Marketing, among others.
- Clear communication on achievements and challenges to focus on the most critical activities while understanding the big picture and the technical aspects with high attention to execution and quality.
Preferred Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of US Regulations / Standards within Medical Devices.
- Working knowledge of Software Development (working knowledge) URS, SRS, etc.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or advanced in science or related engineering field is required.
- Minimum 15 years of R&D experience with 10+ years of senior management experience.
- Experience in robotics preferred.
- Experience in leading and managing multiple complex projects.
