General Description
We are seeking a dynamic and innovative OT (Operational Technology) Systems Administrator to join our IT/OT Services Team. This role is perfect for someone who has strong skills in operational technology and automation, and who is eager to expand their knowledge into networking, cybersecurity, and industrial software. As an OT Engineer, you will play a crucial role in implementing, troubleshooting, and maintaining OT systems, ensuring their reliability and security. You will be responsible for assessing, installing and maintaining secure networking, OT cybersecurity, and industrial software solutions as well as working closely with various teams to enhance and promote operational efficiency. This position offers the opportunity to work on exciting projects, develop your skills, with excellent room for growth all while making a significant impact to our company and its customers.
This is a customer-facing position requiring full time presence at the customer’s manufacturing site to help commission and maintain their control systems. Candidates must be able to work with customers in a professional manner while working under pressure during process startups and while troubleshooting issues.
Specific Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day support and administration for the site OT Systems
- Assist in maintaining these systems, including servers, operating systems, security tools, and applications.
- Generate and maintain Cyber Security Design Specifications.
- Monitor and maintain system Active Directories
- Monitor systems' health and respond to hardware issues as they arise.
- Author and maintain detailed design specifications and standard operating procedures for OT systems.
- Help to configure and test platform equipment (e.g. servers, switches, workstations, thin clients) as needed.
- Coordinate, support, and validate the upgrade of infrastructure equipment.
- Identify and implement solutions to automate manual tasks, where opportunities arise.
- Coordinate system changes and update technical documentation.
- Interact with other teams to assist in troubleshooting, identify root causes, and provide technical support when needed.
- Work is performed full-time on-site at a Life Sciences facility in Wilson, NC.
Required Competencies
- Experience with OT systems, protocols, architectures, and technologies, including industrial control systems (SCADA, PLC, DCS).
- Ability to partake and facilitate decision making for technical projects.
- Knowledge of GMP, regulatory requirements, and computer system validation.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet project timelines, and demonstrate planning/organizational skills.
- Demonstrate troubleshooting abilities and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to provide clear and timely written documentation, including project updates and system validation documents.
Required Education And Experience
- B.S. Degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or similar technical degree.
Preferred Experience/Competencies
- Knowledge of Secure Network Architectures for critical infrastructure environments.
- Experience with OT Systems, industrial networking and software packages including:
- Networking, Switches, and Firewalls (Cisco, Fortinet, or Equivalent)
- Vulnerability Monitoring/Asset Management (Nozomi, Solarwinds, or Equivalent)
- Endpoint Security, Whitelisting, SIEM (Trellix, Crowdstrike, or Equivalent)
- Backup & Recovery (Acronis, Veeam or Equivalent)
- Virtualization (VMWare or Hyper-V)
- Data Management and Process security (Octoplant or Equivalent)
- System Administration Capabilities
- Data Integration & Data Historians (PI, SQL, DCS Historians, or Equivalent)
- Install and Troubleshoot Microsoft Operating Systems
- Troubleshoot Computer Related Issues
- OPC UA Middleware (Kepware, Cogent Datahub, Matrikon or Equivalent)
- Experience working in the Life Sciences Industry.
