Jr. Systems Administrator

Overview:
We’re seeking a motivated Jr. Systems Administrator to support the daily operations, maintenance, and reliability of enterprise server and storage environments. This hands-on role provides an excellent opportunity to grow technical expertise across virtualization, Active Directory, and cloud technologies while working with a collaborative IT infrastructure team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and maintain virtualized environments (VMware and/or Hyper-V) including configuration, patching, and performance monitoring.
- Participate in system updates and patch management to mitigate vulnerabilities and maintain operational health.
- Assist in backup and disaster recovery operations, including testing and documentation.
- Administer Active Directory, including user/group management and Group Policy configuration.
- Support core infrastructure services: DNS, DHCP, DFS, and Certificates.
- Contribute to technical documentation of procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.
- Monitor system health using infrastructure and performance monitoring tools.
- Participate in on-call rotations, after-hours maintenance, and travel to remote locations for support or equipment deployment.
- Maintain service desk tickets and accurate asset records.
Technical Skills & Experience:
- 3+ years of IT experience in a help desk, technical support, or junior system administration role.
- Working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and file/print services.
- Familiarity with VMware or Hyper-V administration.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
- Exposure to PowerShell scripting, automation, and monitoring tools.
- Experience with backup and recovery systems and related documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work onsite five days a week.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree or Technical Certification in Information Systems (or equivalent experience).
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or Microsoft Azure Fundamentals.
- Interest in cloud platforms, automation, and disaster recovery planning.
