A Network Administrator is responsible for keeping an organization’s computer networks running smoothly, securely, and efficiently — including all hardware, software, and connections that allow users and systems to communicate.

Core Responsibilities
- Network Setup & Configuration
- Install, configure, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless access points.
- Manage both LAN (Local Area Network) and WAN (Wide Area Network) connections.
- Monitoring & Maintenance
- Continuously monitor network performance and uptime.
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues, latency, or outages.
- Apply software updates, firmware patches, and performance optimizations.
- Security Management
- Protect the network against unauthorized access, viruses, and cyberattacks.
- Implement firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and security policies.
- Manage user access controls, passwords, and permissions.
- Backup & Disaster Recovery
- Ensure data and configurations are regularly backed up.
- Develop and test recovery procedures in case of failure or breach.
- Documentation & Support
- Maintain detailed documentation of network architecture, configurations, and changes.
- Provide support to users and IT teams for connectivity or access issues.
- Capacity Planning & Optimization
- Analyze network usage trends.
- Recommend upgrades or expansions to meet business growth and new technology needs.
