12-Month W2 Contract (No C2C/No Student Sponsorship/No Visa Sponsorship)
Onsite 5x per week in Thousand Oaks, CA
Pay up to $50/hr. W2.
The ideal candidate will have experience as a Windows Desktop Administrator, hands-on clean-room or laboratory benchtop experience, and familiarity working in a GxP, GMP, or GLP environment. Technical screening needed prior to submission (14-questions via Zoom/Teams).
Responsibilities:
- Work with scientific staff and IS colleagues to resolve request tickets for issues and requests regarding laboratory computers including software upgrades, Windows OS upgrades, general troubleshooting of system issues and benchtop automation support
- Develop and maintain tools and automation scripts for the OBS team (Batch Script, VBS, PowerShell)
- Support corporate deployments of anti-virus, software patches to benchtop computers
- Physically inventory benchtop computers and reconcile with asset inventory system
- Partners with outside vendors to troubleshoot problems, find long-term solutions, and monitor progress to meet user needs
- Work with scientists and other IS colleagues to translate computing needs into sustainable, standardized solutions
- Work on assigned software/hardware lifecycle projects
- Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, security, and database teams to ensure lab systems and instrument data flows comply with corporate security, networking, and GxP requirements.
Basic Qualifications
Master’s degree OR Bachelor’s degree & 2 years of experience of Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or IT Help Desk experience OR Associate degree & 6 years of experience of Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or IT Help Desk experience
OR High school diploma / GED & 8 years of of Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or IT Help Desk experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong customer focus with ability to work closely with customers to manage the resolution of IS tickets in line with customer expectations
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows system administration. SCCM, Knowledge of Linux systems is a plus.
- Strong programming skills and experience with Microsoft programming tools including Batch Script, VBS, PowerShell, and other tools
- Demonstrated experience of IT support in a Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical, Biotech company or equivalent industry or knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry GxP system qualification and validation processes for computer related systems
- Experience with scientific data acquisition systems like SDMS, Empower, PerkinElmer ELN
- Strong team player who can effectively collaborate with IS colleagues in multiple locations on complex tasks and develop designs and strategies to address common problems within the benchtop support domain
- Knowledge of vulnerability patching and OS lifecycle upgrades
Technical skills & tools (examples)
- Windows 10/11, Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy
- Linux administration (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu) — preferred
- PowerShell, Batch, VBS, Python (scripting for automation)
- AWS: EC2, S3, IAM, networking, snapshots/backups
- Databricks / Spark / SQL / Python for ETL and view creation
- Endpoint management tools (e.g., SCCM/Intune or equivalent), antivirus/EDR solutions
- Networking fundamentals, firewall/IP allowlists, and domain troubleshooting (AM domain experience a plus)
- Familiarity with ELN concepts (HLEE) and instrument data models
Work environment
- Onsite role at Thousand Oaks, CA — candidate must be able to work onsite and interact directly with scientists and instruments.
- May require participation in an on-call rotation and occasional after-hours support for critical incidents or planned maintenance windows.
- This role collaborates cross-functionally with instrument owners, vendors, IS teams, and laboratory leadership.
The estimated pay range for this position is USD $45.00/Hr - USD $50.00/Hr.
