Duration: 12-month contract with extension
Work Authorization: USC & GC Only
Pay Rate: $64/hour on W2
Job Description:
- Network Tester – Project Kuiper (LEO Satellite Systems)
About Project Kuiper:
- Amazon’s Project Kuiper is an ambitious initiative to launch and operate a constellation of low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband internet to underserved and remote communities worldwide.
- The network tester will play a vital role in validating the performance, scalability, and reliability of Kuiper’s global networking infrastructure spanning satellite links, ground gateways, and user terminals.
Role Overview:
- As a Network Tester, the candidate will be responsible for testing, validating, and analyzing network performance across multiple layers of the Kuiper communication system — from LEO satellite payloads to terrestrial ground networks.
- Candidates will work closely with network engineers, systems developers, and satellite operations teams to ensure the seamless integration and operation of Kuiper’s global communications network.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, execute, and automate test plans for Kuiper’s satellite-ground network communications and backhaul systems.
- Conduct functional, performance, and stress testing on network components, including routers, switches, and software-defined networking (SDN) layers.
- Validate end-to-end connectivity, latency, throughput, and resiliency of Kuiper’s LEO satellite mesh.
- Use advanced tools to capture and analyze network traffic (Wireshark, iperf, NetFlow, etc.) for root cause analysis.
- Support integration and regression testing of Kuiper’s software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) and ground segment systems.
- Develop and maintain automated test frameworks using Python, Shell, or similar scripting languages.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to identify performance bottlenecks and propose optimizations.
- Document test cases, results, and defect tracking through standard QA tools (JIRA, TestRail, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with network reliability, redundancy, and security standards for mission-critical systems.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- 3 plus years of experience in network testing or network QA, preferably in large-scale or satellite-based systems.
- Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, UDP, DNS, DHCP).
- Hands-on experience with network performance tools (e.g., Wireshark, iperf, Spirent, IXIA).
- Familiarity with Linux networking, VLANs, firewalls, and routing configuration.
- Experience in test automation scripting (Python, Bash, or similar).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in LEO/MEO satellite communications, RF systems, or aerospace networking.
- Knowledge of network emulation and simulation tools.
- Experience with AWS cloud-based networking or other cloud infrastructure.
- Familiarity with telemetry and monitoring tools (Grafana, Prometheus, CloudWatch).
- Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or AWS Advanced Networking Speciality are a plus.
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional, fast-paced engineering teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to prioritize in dynamic environments.
