Position Overview
- Seeking a highly experienced System Administrator (SA) to support mission-critical systems for a Federal customer at Fort Meade, Maryland.
- Responsible for managing and maintaining complex mission systems in support of federal operations.
- This role involves configuring, troubleshooting, and securing systems across multiple environments, ensuring high availability and compliance with federal cybersecurity standards.
- The ideal candidate will also bring advanced expertise in container technologies, clustered storage, and configuration management tools.
Key Responsibilities
System Management
- Install, configure, and maintain operating systems (Windows/Linux) and applications.
- Administer large-scale software deployments on LINUX/UNIX systems.
- Manage system backups, patching, and updates.
- Monitor system performance and availability.
- Administer clustered storage solutions (e.g., storage appliances, Ceph).
Security & Compliance
- Implement and enforce security policies and procedures.
- Support RMF documentation and compliance efforts.
- Respond to security incidents and conduct forensic analysis.
Technical Support
- Provide Tier 3 problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution of complex technical issues.
- Collaborate with network engineers, ISSOs, and developers.
- Maintain system documentation and SOPs.
Automation & Optimization
- Develop scripts and tools to automate routine tasks.
- Optimize system configurations for performance and reliability.
- Utilize system configuration management software (e.g., Puppet, Ansible).
- Support change control processes and documentation.
Container & Orchestration Technologies
- Administer Kubernetes-orchestrated container environments.
- Ensure containerized applications are deployed securely and efficiently.
- Troubleshoot and optimize container performance and scalability.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: 7+ years of system administration in secure environments.
- Proven experience with container technologies, clustered storage, and configuration management tools.
