Description
The System Administrator will work with other members of the IT team to provide a stable, scalable, cloud-based and on-premises infrastructure to host HGI products and services, while also playing a critical role for planning and deploying security, monitoring and high availability tools and processes. This role also serves as a Tier 1-3 level of Service/Help Desk role as a problem/issue identification and resolution resource, including answering questions, providing advice, troubleshooting, and follow-up to assist users in solving their hardware, software, service or data processing problems.
Primary Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain the company's hardware, software, network environments, and systems across both on-premises and Azure cloud infrastructures.
- Provide expert-level Tier 1-3 IT support for network (LAN/WAN), hardware, software, and all IT environments, including on-premises systems, Azure, and Microsoft 365. This includes supporting internal and external users with access to core infrastructure products and services.
- Manage the Continuous Improvement of IT processes and procedures and maintain up-to-date system documentation to ensure smooth operations, knowledge transfer and business continuity.
- Collaborate with Business Systems team to design, deploy, and support improvements for network infrastructure, security controls, and comprehensive monitoring.
- Provide essential administration for various database instances, assisting with deployment, configuration, backups, and support to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Administer and manage the Microsoft 365 and Azure portals, including user management, security, and access to resources.
- Implement security best practices such as Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and managing security groups in both Active Directory and Microsoft Entra.
- Travel to regional branches is required two times per year.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the IT department's goals and initiatives.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience designing, deploying, and maintaining hybrid solutions between Microsoft Cloud and on-premises environments.
- 3+ years of experience providing IT support for Microsoft technologies, including Active Directory, Hyper-V, and Domain Servers.
- 3+ years of experience with Microsoft Entra ID, Virtual Machine, and network management.
- 2+ years of experience automating IT tasks with PowerShell.
- 3+ years of experience with Cisco, Sophos, and Fortigate switching, firewall, and VPN technologies.
- Experience with application deployment strategies, continuous integration, and version control.
- Experience with Azure network, security, load balancing management, and Infrastructure as Code (IoC).
- Expert in troubleshooting HTTP, TCP/IP, SNMP, DNS, WAN, and LAN issues.
- Excellent communication and teaching skills.
- Solid understanding of Active Directory and Microsoft 365 integration.
- Proven understanding of security and monitoring concepts, principles, and practices.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Hyper-V and Azure VM servers.
- Experience administering WordPress, Linux OS and Azure applications.
