Functional Role: Systems Administrator
Location: Torrance, CA *onsite, potential for some remote*

The Systems Administrator is responsible for the effective installation, configuration, maintenance, and reliable operation of the organization’s computer systems, servers, and related infrastructure. This role ensures that all systems, hardware, and software function efficiently and securely to support business operations.
The Systems Administrator monitors system performance, troubleshoots issues, and implements appropriate solutions to minimize downtime and optimize productivity. They manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls, while also maintaining data integrity through regular backups, updates, and security practices. The role includes collaboration with internal teams and vendors to support technology initiatives and provide end-user assistance when needed.
The Systems Administrator follows best practices in systems management, stays current with emerging technologies, and contributes to ongoing improvements in infrastructure, security, and operational procedures. This individual plays a key role in maintaining a stable, secure, and scalable IT environment for the organization.
Technical Skills
Operating Systems & Platforms
- Administration of Windows Server (Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, WSUS)
- Virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, or KVM
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud
Networking & Infrastructure
- Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching)
- Firewall and VPN configuration and management (Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, etc.)
- Wireless network setup and troubleshooting
- Load balancers, proxies, and network monitoring tools
Storage & Backup
- Administration of SAN/NAS storage systems
- Experience with backup and recovery solutions (Veeam, Commvault, Backup Exec, etc.)
- Disaster recovery planning and testing
Security & Compliance
- Endpoint security tools and antivirus solutions
- Patch management and vulnerability remediation
- Identity and access management best practices
- Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance requirements (ISO 27001, SOC 2, NIST, etc.)
Tools & Automation
- Scripting and automation using PowerShell, Bash, or Python
- Configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, SCCM/Intune)
- Monitoring and logging platforms (Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds, Prometheus, Splunk)
Applications & Services
- Management of Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, or on-prem Exchange
- Collaboration tools (Teams, SharePoint, Slack)
- Database systems (SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL)
