Network Design & Implementation Engineer
Location: Dearborn, MI 48124
Schedule: Hybrid, 4 days onsite
Pay Rate: Up to $51.99/hour, depending on experience and chosen benefits

Position Duties:
- Lead design and implementation planning for Data Center LAN projects.
- Communicate with Server Hosting, Mainframe, and Storage teams to understand network connectivity requirements and ensure compliance with Data Center standards.
- Design logical and physical network layouts according to approved standards; consult with Network Engineering when requirements deviate from standards.
- Coordinate space and power arrangements with the Data Center Facilities team.
- Maintain bill-of-materials; order network hardware and cabling per purchasing policies; approve invoice payments.
- Plan network configuration changes and associated DNS updates in compliance with standards and change control processes.
- Coordinate hardware, cabling, and configuration tasks with Network Operations.
- Create logical network diagrams and change control documentation; attend change control meetings to present project details and resolve implementation issues.
- Manage project resources, timelines, and communicate plans to stakeholders.
- Develop network design and process documentation (drawings, spreadsheets).
- Coordinate Network Refresh projects (Cisco L2/L3 and ACI switches).
- Monitor software updates, bugs, and patches (Cisco NXOS and ACI); implement approved code updates.
- Collaborate with Network Engineering to test new designs, hardware, and code updates.
Primary Skills Required:
- Extensive knowledge of Cisco IOS, NXOS, ACI.
- Strong expertise in Cisco L2/L3 switching technologies.
- In-depth understanding of Ethernet switching (1G, 10G, 40G, 100G).
- Knowledge of basic networking and IP protocols.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Visio, Excel, and SharePoint.
- Strong project management, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Additional Skills Preferred:
- Strong process mindset – ability to create and follow sustainable processes.
- Experience with Cisco NCS DWDM optical transport systems (NCS 2000/4000 series).
- Ability to develop procedures for optical network maintenance and repair.
- Perform testing and validation of Cisco NCS DWDM optical technologies.
- Execute network upgrades, expansions, and hardware refresh.
- Troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis for switching/routing and optical issues.
- Collaborate with vendors for hardware/software upgrades and issue resolution.
- Ensure compliance with operational standards and security policies.
- High attention to detail and quality standards.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of SDN technology, hyper-converged infrastructure, DNS, load balancing.
- Familiarity with VMware and emerging cloud/container solutions (e.g., OpenShift Virtualization).
- Understanding of server, storage, and mainframe technologies.
- Knowledge of structured cabling best practices.
