Position: Mainframe Administrator
Location: Austin, TX or San Antonio, TX (Hybrid – 2 days onsite/week)
Duration: Long-term Contract / Full-time
Role Type: 100% Mainframe Administration (No development work)
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Administrator to support, maintain, and optimize enterprise-level mainframe systems for client This role focuses on ensuring system reliability, performance tuning, and issue resolution across production and non-production environments. Candidates must be local or willing to commute onsite twice per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, configure, and maintain mainframe infrastructure and system software.
- Perform system upgrades, patching activities, backups, and performance optimization.
- Monitor, diagnose, and troubleshoot mainframe system issues to ensure stability and uptime.
- Collaborate with internal IT, infrastructure, and support teams to facilitate smooth operations.
- Ensure adherence to security, audit, and compliance requirements.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Mainframe Administrator.
- Strong expertise with z/OS, JCL, RACF, DB2, and mainframe operational tools.
- Ability to perform system tuning, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to work onsite 2 days/week in Austin or San Antonio, TX.
