About
Over 20 years of professional experience in digital forensics, e-discovery, malware research, and corporate and private investigations. Currently Director of IT Security, previously Senior Director of Digital Forensics and Investigations for a boutique private intelligence firm.
I am a recipient of several prestigious SANS Lethal Forensicator Coin awards and also a 2012 and 2014 participant in NATO's Cyber Coalition exercises. I have been engaged to work nationally and internationally as a consultant, expert witness (often both) on matters such as:
- commercial litigation
- theft and misuse of intellectual property
- corporate espionage
- spoliation of evidence
- embezzlement
- inappropriate employee conduct
- malicious software analysis
- network security assessments / audits
- data breaches and remediation
- technical surveillance counter measures (TSCM) / bug sweeps
- harassment
- divorce
- medical malpractice
- internal investigations
Performed more than my fair share of: Risk Management and Mitigation, Vulnerability Assessments (external and internal), Penetration Testing, Information Security Compliance (HIPAA, PCI, etc) and Network Architecture Audits (ISO 9001, ISO 27001, CoBIT, etc)
I've also testified in court regarding any of the above matters and have been deposed in more 6-hour+ depositions than I'd like to remember. Clients also tend to retain me to review and provide rebuttals to an adverse side's expert reports.
Additionally, I have performed many TSCM sweeps for active and/or passive recording and transmitter devices to secure meeting spaces or other areas where private/confidential information is being discussed or shared.
When I'm not guiding non-techies through the world of cybersecurity, I may usually be found hiking mountains or swimming in lakes with my son, partner, and four-legged protectors. I am of the Towering House Diné born for the Badger Clan of the Hopi. This is how I am a Diné (Navajo) person.
