Associate Information Security Engineer/Vulnerability Remediation Leader
The primary responsibilities as a system engineer at VSP Vision is supporting all other engineers around the organization. Deploying applications, infrastructure, hardware, troubleshooting and more. Working in a high-paced environment to constantly deliver improvements, automation, and other strategic impacts to the organization. Deployed numerous automation scripts, saving the business thousands of dollars in man hours each quarter. Acting as a project manager, with a focus on training Sys Admin operations to the Global Network Operations Center, streamlining workflows, and reducing on-call callouts. Leading various projects and ensuring the completion of failed initiatives demonstrates proficiency. Knowledge of private cloud infrastructure, including F5 load balancers, vRa systems, and storage architecture is utilized. Collaboration with infrastructure architects on projects such as robust ransomware protection is essential. Optimizing applications, improving CMDB data mapping, and driving automation through PowerShell are core components of the role.
The secondary responsibility for this position revolves around serving as the Vulnerability Remediation Leader for the organization. Reporting findings and security prioritizations to leadership, executives, and the DevSecOps team on a weekly basis is a key aspect of the role.

As an intern at VSP Vision Care, I gained practical experience in IT system administration, working with teams in Unix and Windows environments. I assisted VMWare and storage teams, participating in various tasks related to data centers and server management.

I dealt with the point of sales operations, which allowed customers to leave quickly & happily. I handled all many forms of payment, including cash, checks, debit and credit cards, Food Stamps, WIC, and some other minor forms of payment. I also maintained the proper functioning of the Verifone, desktop (NCR), and other components of the payment system. I troubleshot other computer systems when it was beneficial for the business, as well as for the Information Technology team. Not only did I operate the cash register system, but I also maintained the self-checkout registers. As well as multitasking daily to meet all customers' needs between the self-service registers and my current register.
I created a welcome atmosphere for every customer. I was one of the last people they saw at the store, so I made a positive impact on their experience at the store.
Alongside these duties, I was chosen on night shifts to complete the daily tasks for Clerks for my speed and precision. These tasks included filling products on shelves in the dairy and grocery departments. As well as creating displays of products, in addition to repacking such displays. Among other tasks that made the store viable for other employees and customers for the next day.

As a Systems Engineer at VSP Vision, I was a subject matter expert in over 25 different categories. I effectively collaborated with all IT teams, optimizing applications, contributing to the protection against ransomware attacks, and driving infrastructure-wide improvements. A standout achievement was driving a significant improvement in ServiceNow CMDB data mapping, increasing accuracy from 5% to over 95%, and enhancing overall operational efficiency.
In both roles, I received numerous awards for my achievements. I consistently received high-performance reviews throughout my tenure.
Committed to personal growth and career advancement, my ultimate goal is to secure a management position in either information security or project management. I thrive as a people-oriented leader, utilizing my innate ability to read body language and foster strong team dynamics. Known for challenging the status quo and finding inventive solutions, I consistently deliver exceptional results while maintaining respect for all parties involved.
Alongside my professional pursuits, I engage in volunteer work. Including a decade-long commitment to training dogs for Canine Companions for Independence. I have also contributed to community efforts during major events, such as the COVID-19 vaccine rollout, providing valuable assistance alongside healthcare professionals.
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with a concentration in Cyber Security, supplemented by formal training for the CISSP. Additionally, I possess knowledge in forensics, deception detection, criminal law basics, and other relevant areas, acquired through exposure to diverse fields.
