Cyber networking operators are responsible for installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of networking systems. This includes installing and configuring hubs, routers, bridges, and various transmission media, installing and configuring server hardware and software, and coordinating with the information systems specialist to ensure the proper installation and configuration of workstation hardware and software to ensure efficient operation on the network. Cyber networking operators also install, optimize and troubleshoot Local Area and Wide Area Networks and operate the Tactical Data Network (TDN) server.
As a Corporal (E-4), not only am I responsible for the installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of all data/network related functions associated with the USMC Capset IV Combat Operations Center; I must also retain that knowledge and pass it on, teaching the younger Marines that come through our unit.

I support the ongoing active directory integration efforts by managing the user synchronization processes between Secure and the legacy domains as part of the boost project, as well as throwing in my hat with other administrators who need help keeping up with their applications' work load.

IT Contractor - IT Security Analyst - Informational Risk Management - Optum, United HealthGroup
I utilized a wide range of skills outside of my job requirements here; Our store did not have the funding to pay outside companies or contractors to come in and provision our DVR and camera infrastructure. I took on the responsibility of installing/repairing cameras, monitors, and various pieces of DVR equipment. I was in charge of laying, routing, and re-tipping any needed coaxial or ethernet cables. I also took responsibility of trouble-shooting all issues revolving these areas in a multi-level store.
While I was only an LPA (loss prevention associate), I took over many of the managerial duties of our store as our LPM (loss prevention manager) was transitioning out to another location.
I took charge of our internal investigations, trained two other LPAs, and as I transitioned out, I trained in the new LPM in conducting audits, repairing camera and DVR systems, filing and filling out all necessary paperwork, managing the DTM based door system, as well as our policies and procedures for apprehending shoplifters.
