- Directed the development and sustain leading edge technology support (infrastructure and desktop, hardware and software) for CHR research and business operational needs. This included data center operations; management of enterprise applications; server configuration and management; network infrastructure and security; client configuration management; Internet Web technologies; database administration; desktop client configuration management; help desk support operations; and account management and access control.
- Provided general and immediate supervision to the Manager of Networks, Systems and Operations, to Senior Systems Engineer/Database Administrators, and to Application Developers and Programmers.
- Directed the evaluation, selection, and implementation of computer and network hardware and software technologies to support CHR objectives.
- Promoted the adoption of new computer technology, and the conceptualization, identification, and dissemination of ways to better use existing technology.

Recently retired from a long-term career in information technology with broad and deep experience in both information technology infrastructure management and in information security management, I am available for limited-term engagements to bring my knowledge, experience and skill to benefit client organizations.
Few professionals will offer a background such as mine.
I bring the advantage of many years of information technology infrastructure management experience, coupled with the responsibility for information security management, all obtained in the context of healthcare research in a healthcare delivery environment.
My Bachelors of Science Degree is a dual degree from Portland State University, with General Management from the School of Business and Computer Science from the School of Engineering. That dual educational focus has served well throughout my successful professional career.
I successfully executed full management responsibility for planning, implementing and delivering technology to support organizational business objectives from 1990 through my retirement in August 2014, establishing and maintaining a long-range vision and successfully managing budgets of over $3 million in labor and non-labor and in the range of $1 million in capital annually.
I've formally served as HIPAA Security Officer. I hold CISSP certification from (ISC)2 with its focus on the technical aspects of information security. I also hold CISM certification from ISACA, with focus on information security management processes and alignment with business goals.
I have studied and developed a deep understanding of the work of organizations, with both broad and direct management experience. I served my local community as a school board member, with many of those years as the board chair, and I have developed and demonstrated a strong capability for cooperation, collaboration, building consensus and for managing process.
