About
A seasoned and strategic IT Security Leader, I bring extensive experience in cybersecurity, network administration, and risk management. I have spent over a decade navigating the complexities of IT infrastructure, where my knowledge, innovative strategies, and tenacity have fortified organizations' defenses against the evolving landscape of digital threats.
In my most recent role as Chief Information Security Officer for the City of Charleston, I led a transformative IT risk control framework, significantly enhancing the city's security posture and adherence to stringent cybersecurity standards. This experience allowed me to flex my audit coordination skills, successfully collaborating with internal and external auditors to innovate and implement robust security measures.
My love for data analysis came to the fore as I scrutinized sign-ins, firewall logs, security alerts, and blocked malicious emails to generate detailed security and risk management strategies. A proud career highlight was leading a citywide Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) enforcement that markedly improved our security posture following a breach incident.
Yet, the heart of security lies in its people. As a leader, I've cultivated a security-conscious culture by spearheading employee training programs and maintaining open lines of communication with stakeholders. My regular briefings with IT directors and city managers provide critical insights into our current security stance and future remediation strategies.
Prior to my CISO role, my years as a Network Administrator shaped my understanding of effective network systems operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. I gained expertise in the development of policies, procedures, and training plans for network resource administration.
With professional certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, CySA+, A+, and Security+, I continuously hone my skills and stay abreast of emerging trends in cybersecurity.
In this rapidly changing digital age, I am driven by my passion for protecting valuable data assets and maintaining the integrity of IT systems. I am dedicated to employing strategic solutions, integrating new technologies, and managing the nuances of cybersecurity risk. As I look to the future, I aim to bring my experience, drive, and commitment to an organization that values a robust and dynamic approach to cybersecurity.
