- Engineered a remote access solution utilizing Palo Alto GlobalProtect which allowed pre-logon connectivity, and multi-factor SAML-authenticated users to connect to the remote network. The transition off previous solutions was extremely smooth. When many organizations were scrambling to figure out how to support remote workers during the COVID-19 pandemic, Casey's was seamlessly able to support additional remote users due to this solution.
- Worked with Casey's business partners to maintain and engineer remote connections to remote partner and cloud environments, including Azure, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and AWS to support Casey's business operations using IPSEC tunnels.
- Protected Casey's customer, store, and corporate data by engineering, deploying, and regularly reviewing firewall security policies, network and routing settings, NAT policies, URL filtering, antivirus, and vulnerability profiles, and performing PANOS updates on physical and virtual Palo Alto firewalls in on-premises data center and Azure cloud environments utilizing the Palo Alto Panorama management and logging platform. Evaluated and helped deploy Palo Alto ZTP firewalls, and Palo Alto Prisma Access. Assisted Network Engineer in implementing BGP routing within the Casey’s network.
- Built a three-tier (web-app-database) lab environment utilizing Ubuntu LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP) servers for testing virtualized Palo Alto firewalls integrated with VMware NSX.
- Administered email security systems, including Cisco IronPort and Postfix.
- Served as Co-Chair of the Emerging Professionals Group, and a member of the United Way Committee.

About
I've worked in public sector, commercial, and non-profit positions, in places that range from well-equipped North American offices, to minimalist locations in Middle Eastern deserts and African jungles. I enjoy troubleshooting and problem-solving, and draw on my diverse experiences to engineer creative solutions. When the opportunity allows, I tend to take the lead, and I am constantly looking for ways to improve processes and outcomes.
