Key Responsibilities
- Perform z/OS upgrades (versions 2.4, 2.5, or 3.1) using z/OSMF workflows to ensure smooth transitions and system reliability.
- Provide comprehensive support for zHardware refresh projects across platforms such as z14, z15, and z16.
- Manage and maintain software using SMP/E, ensuring timely upgrades and maintenance of Broadcom and IBM tools.
- Implement and promote z/OS service improvement initiatives and industry best practices.
- Build and manage configurations for new hardware using IODF, HCD, HMC, and IOCP.
- Oversee and maintain core z/OS subsystems, including JES2, ISPF, TCP/IP, USS, and Parallel Sysplex.
- Develop and support automation solutions using REXX and CLIST scripting languages.
- Ensure robust Disaster Recovery support, preparing for and managing system recovery in critical situations.
- Provide 24/7 on-call support to resolve system issues and maintain system availability.
Required Skills And Expertise
- Proven expertise with z/OS upgrades (2.4, 2.5, 3.1) using z/OSMF workflows.
- Expertise in supporting zHardware Refresh projects (z14, z15, z16).
- Proficiency in SMP/E for IBM and Broadcom tool maintenance and upgrades.
- Experience in related configuration tools (IODF, HCD, HMC, IOCP).
- Strong knowledge of core z/OS subsystems (JES2, ISPF, TCP/IP, USS, Parallel Sysplex).
- Experience in REXX, CLIST, and automation scripting.
- Solid understanding of Disaster Recovery processes and IPL flow.
- Experience with problem diagnosis and resolution (abend, wait states, dumps, SLIP).
- Familiarity with OEM product installs, ServerPac, and Shopz/SMP/E retrieval.
- Working knowledge of USS, zFS, VTAM, Connect: Direct, FTP/SFTP, and network protocols.
- Ability to support 24/7 on-call operations.
