The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead our technology strategy and execution as we continue to scale our FTTH business. The CTO will be a key member of the executive team, responsible for all aspects of our technology roadmap, infrastructure, and team development. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in a similar role (VP or above) within a high-growth FTTH company (100k - 1M subscribers), with a deep understanding of networking, systems, automation, and data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technology Vision and Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive technology roadmap aligned with the company's strategic goals, focusing on long-term scalability, innovation, and competitive advantage. This includes the technology stack, systems, and CPE plan.
- Team Leadership and Development: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing technology team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. This includes coaching and development at both the leadership/management and individual contributor levels.
- Network and Infrastructure Management: Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of our network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security. This includes WAN, county, and FSA level network design, as well as experience with Juniper or Cisco routers/switches and in-home FTTH ONTs and Wi-Fi.
- Systems and Automation: Drive the optimization of OSS/BSS systems and automation initiatives to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and enhance the customer experience. Utilize machine learning, automation, and AI to reduce repetitive tasks, automate business processes, and proactively detect customer-impacting issues.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Champion the use of data and analytics to monitor network performance, identify areas for improvement, and inform strategic decisions. Implement programs where data drives changes to teams, systems, or processes to achieve tangible results.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage a capital budget in excess of $10 million, focusing on network design, system implementation, automation, hardware, and software. Align budget with the technology roadmap to meet both long-range plans and short-term constraints.
- Security: Ensure the security of our systems and networks, implementing robust measures to protect against internal and external threats, including DDoS attacks.
Required Skills and Experience:
Core Technical Expertise:
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a VP equivalent in a FTTH company with 100k - 1M subscribers.
- Full conceptual and practical understanding of OSS/BSS systems.
- Proven experience utilizing Machine Learning, Automation, or AI to improve business operations.
- Demonstrated ability to implement changes to systems, CPE, software, or processes that drove tangible improvements for internal and external customers.
- Extensive experience designing and managing network infrastructure at the WAN, county wide network (LAN), and PON levels.
- Deep understanding of networking technologies, including Juniper or Cisco routers/switches, FTTH ONTs, and Wi-Fi.
- Experience with creating road maps to design long-term technology stacks and systems that will meet key business objectives around growth, optimization and the ability to make scaling smooth for all internal stakeholders.
- Experience with data analysis and monitoring to improve system performance, lower costs, and enhance customer experience.
- Experience with security related issues such as protocols, software, systems, tools, monitoring, phishing, social engineering and more.
Management & Leadership Experience:
- Experience leading an organization through early growth phases and rapid scaling.
- Ability to articulate a clear approach to coaching and developing team members at all levels.
- Proven ability to identify, hire, and develop top talent.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience in having difficult conversations with team members, peers, BOD, and CEO, while providing solutions for the issues.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience with ABP Network Technology (Juniper and Calix).
- Experience with Gaiia OSS/BSS.
- Experience with Power BI.
- Experience with Vetro (or a similar fiber planning technology).
- Experience with CrowdStrike.
Education:
- College degree or equivalent life experience in the field of technology, networking, IS or software
