Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a System Administrator located in Greater Boston. The System Administrator will be responsible for maintaining, upgrading, and managing software, hardware, and networks. Day-to-day tasks will include monitoring system performance, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, ensuring security through access controls, backups, and firewalls, and managing the configuration and operation of the operating systems. The System Administrator will collaborate with other IT professionals and communicate with stakeholders to ensure their technical needs are met.
Systems Administrator Minimum Requirements:
- Two to five years experience in an IT role
- Experience with Microsoft Server and desktop operating systems & software
- Experience performing routine computer system maintenance (applying patches, updates, and upgrades) to provide a stable and secure environment.
- Experience with network administration, including configuring and troubleshooting routers, switches, and firewalls
- Knowledge of security practices, including management of access controls
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to manage backups and disaster recovery plans
Systems Administrator Preferences:
- BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cloud Computing or equivalent experience
- Microsoft 365 administration experience and certifications
- Skills in virtualization technologies such as VMware and Hyper-V
- Cloud experience (Azure, AWS)
- Certification in CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent is a plus
- Experience in working with police departments or municipalities is beneficial
