Job Title: Collibra System Administrator
Duration of project: 6 months (Contract to hire role. Needs at least 3 years of experience working as a Collibra System Administrator)
Location: 100% Remote
Job Summary
The Collibra System Administrator will serve as the technical anchor for the Data Governance platform, ensuring its operational health, stability, and connectivity. While still acting as a vital link between business users and technical teams, this role focuses primarily on the "how" rather than the "what"—troubleshooting day-to-day technical issues, managing back-end configurations, and ensuring seamless data connectivity.
This role is responsible for administering the Collibra platform, including Collibra Protect, and actively supporting the Intelligent Data Experience - Access and Security (IDEAS) program from a technical perspective. You will be the primary expert for building and maintaining JDBC connections for the Data Catalog, coordinating complex issue resolution with vendor support, and partnering closely with our internal DevOps teams for infrastructure needs.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Support & Troubleshooting
• Serve as the primary point of contact for day-to-day technical issues within the Collibra platform, including user access, workflow failures, and job execution errors
• Analyze system logs and utilize monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks or stability issues
• Manage and administer Collibra Protect, ensuring fine-grained data access controls are correctly configured and operating as intended Integration & Connectivity
• Build, configure, and maintain JDBC driver connections to enable diverse data sources to integrate with the Collibra Data Catalog
• Manage technical configurations for Collibra Edge sites to ensure successful metadata ingestion and profiling
• Collaborate with data owners to troubleshoot connectivity issues between source systems and Collibra
Vendor & DevOps Coordination
• Act as the primary technical liaison with Collibra vendor support; log tickets, provide necessary diagnostic data (logs, screenshots), and drive issues to resolution
• Coordinate with internal DevOps and Infrastructure teams for platform upgrades, patches, server maintenance, and network configuration changes (firewalls, proxies)
• Translate vendor technical requirements into actionable tasks for internal IT teams
Platform Management
• Plan and coordinate technical implementations of new features, hotfixes, and major version upgrades
• Maintain technical documentation regarding system architecture, configurations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for troubleshooting
• Stay current on Collibra’s technical roadmap, specifically regarding changes to APIs, connectors, and infrastructure requirements
Required Skills
• 5+ years of experience in Enterprise System Administration, Application Support, or Technical Operations
• 3+ years of experience working as a Collibra system administrator
• Proven experience troubleshooting complex, multi-tiered enterprise software applications (identifying issues across network, database, or application layers)
• Experience configuring JDBC/ODBC drivers and understanding of database connectivity protocols
• Strong experience coordinating with software vendors for advanced support and ticket resolution
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
Technical Expertise
• Hands-on administration experience with Collibra Data Intelligence Cloud (DGC, Catalog, Protect)
• Experience with Collibra Jobserver/Edge installation and log analysis
• Working knowledge of Linux/Windows server environments for basic troubleshooting
• Familiarity with REST APIs for basic automation or integration testing
• Knowledge of SQL for querying backend databases or validating data connections
Process & Soft Skills
• Strong analytical thinking and decisive judgment in high-pressure troubleshooting scenarios
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum methodologies (specifically focusing on technical delivery within sprints)
• Excellent written communication skills for documenting root cause analyses and technical configurations
• Ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical business stakeholders
Education & Background
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience
• Experience working in a healthcare environment or with highly regulated data (HIPAA, PII/PHI) is a plus
