Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role located in Washington D.C. The Policy Analyst will aid our firm’s principals by providing timely research, tracking, and analysis in support of client priorities and coordinate firm operations, including communications with clients and invoice support, in addition to providing administrative support for our team.
Principal Responsibilities
Research, Legislative Tracking, and Analysis
- Work with firm principals to maintain a watchlist of key client issues and check sources daily for hearings on assigned subjects, bill introductions of potential and known relevance, and floor schedules for tracked legislation. Alert principals of issues requiring elevated client attention.
- Monitor Congressional hearings and briefings on key topics and prepare written summaries that can be shared with clients.
Communications and Client Support
- Coordinate with firm principals to assemble and distribute client updates, hearing summaries, and press releases.
- Provide copyediting support for written materials.
- Meticulously maintain a database of client contact information.
- Serve as an administrator for the firm’s social media accounts and website. Coordinate and manage timely content updates.
Client Outreach and Administrative Support
- Provide administrative support to the firm’s principals by assisting with scheduling meetings and maintaining their calendars and a team calendar.
- Provide logistical support for in-person firm briefings and events.
- Help manage the firm’s client invoicing (accounts payable/receivable) processes and the preparation of expense reports.
- Work with firm principals to prepare and file quarterly Lobbying Disclosure Act filings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, or a related field is required.
- Familiarity with government processes, specifically in the legislative and executive branches. Congressional staff experience is a plus, including fellowships or internships in a congressional office or with a government affairs team.
- This role provides critical support across all of our firm’s major functions and requires a self-starter with a strong sense of initiative that can help expand bandwidth across our team.
- A high degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office with specific experience and training in Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Word. Experience with using and training artificial intelligence tools is a significant plus.
- Proficiency in navigating social media platforms.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing and to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
