Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and versatile Infrastructure Consultant to lead and support enterprise cloud migrations to Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role is ideal for professionals with a strong infrastructure background and hands-on experience in planning and executing complex cloud migration programs. The ideal candidate has previously worked in client-facing roles, is comfortable navigating ambiguity, and brings a consultative mindset to every engagement.
The consultant will play a key role in wave planning, migration execution, and client advisory, working alongside infrastructure teams, cloud architects, and business stakeholders. Prior experience with Google Cloud Professional Services (PSO) or equivalent partner-led engagements is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Migration Strategy & Planning
- Conduct infrastructure and application discovery across legacy environments.
- Develop migration wave plans, grouping workloads based on dependencies, criticality, and readiness.
- Design landing zones and foundational GCP architectures in alignment with enterprise requirements.
- Collaborate with application, network, and security teams to finalize cloud readiness.
Execution & Technical Delivery
- Support or lead the execution of lift-and-shift, rehost, replatform, or refactor strategies on GCP.
- Engage in hands-on setup and configuration of:
- Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, IAM, VPC, Firewall Rules, Cloud Monitoring, etc.
- Assist in designing hybrid connectivity solutions using Cloud VPN, Interconnect, or Partner Interconnect.
- Help create automated provisioning scripts or templates using Terraform or other Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools.
Client Engagement & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for technical migration matters.
- Guide customers through ambiguous or undefined environments by establishing structure, documentation, and decision frameworks.
- Present migration approaches, trade-offs, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Facilitate client workshops, discovery sessions, and migration readiness assessments.
Governance, Security & Compliance
- Ensure GCP configurations align with enterprise security, compliance, and governance policies.
- Advise on IAM roles, VPC Service Controls, network segmentation, and audit logging.
- Assist in creating post-migration operational plans and knowledge transfer documentation.
Monitoring & Support
- Leverage Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, and Operations Suite for visibility and troubleshooting.
- Establish dashboards and alerting mechanisms for migrated workloads.
- Support stabilization efforts post-migration and assist with performance tuning and incident resolution.
Required Qualifications
- 5–8 years of experience in cloud infrastructure consulting, systems engineering, or IT modernization.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience specifically with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services.
- Direct experience with enterprise-scale GCP migrations, including planning, execution, and optimization.
- Proficiency with:
- Compute Engine, VPC, Cloud Storage, IAM, Cloud VPN, Cloud Monitoring, and related GCP services.
- Strong understanding of migration wave planning, dependency mapping, and cloud adoption strategies.
- Ability to work in ambiguous and dynamic environments, with minimal direction.
- Exceptional communication skills and experience working with enterprise clients or Fortune 500 companies.
- Willingness to travel to Dallas, TX occasionally for client workshops or on-site support.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience on a Google PSO (Professional Services Organization) engagement or working with a GCP Premier Partner.
- GCP Professional Certification (e.g., Professional Cloud Architect, Network Engineer, or DevOps Engineer).
- Experience with Terraform, Deployment Manager, or other Infrastructure-as-Code tools.
- Familiarity with migration tools like Migrate for Compute Engine, Velostrata, or third-party tools (e.g., CloudEndure, StratoZone).
- Experience with multi-cloud or hybrid environments (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Background in regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, finance) and cloud governance frameworks.
