THE OPPORTUNITY
Atom Creek is seeking a Virtual Chief Information Officer (vCIO) to serve as a trusted strategic advisor for our clients. The vCIO bridges business and technology, guiding clients through modernization, cybersecurity, maturity, and digital transformation while ensuring their IT strategy supports their business goals.
As a vCIO at Atom Creek, you will manage a defined portfolio of clients representing approximately $100K–$150K in monthly recurring revenue (MRR). You’ll lead Strategic Business Reviews (SBRs), develop technology roadmaps, interpret cybersecurity data, and help clients make informed technology investments that drive real business value.
This is both a client-facing advisory and internal leadership role. You’ll collaborate with Atom Creek’s Technical Alignment Engineers, Security Operations Center, and leadership team to influence the evolution of our managed service stack and ensure world-class delivery.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Lead client Strategic Business Reviews (SBRs) to align IT strategy with business objectives.
- Build and maintain multi-year technology roadmaps, budgets, and lifecycle plans.
- Review and interpret security assessments, SOC findings, and incident response reports; translate technical risks into business impact.
- Partner with a Technical Alignment Engineer (TAE) to evaluate technology posture and recommend continuous improvements.
- Guide clients on frameworks such as NIST CSF, CIS Controls, and Microsoft Secure Score.
- Participate in the Discovery and Design process for new client solutions and projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technology standards.
- Prepare and present proposals for client approval, including recommendations for hardware, software, or professional services that align with strategic goals.
- Communicate the business value of technology investments and influence executive decision-making.
- Serve as the client’s advocate within Atom Creek — ensuring timely delivery, proactive strategy, and measurable outcomes.
- Contribute to Atom Creek’s internal service standards, vendor stack, and long-term technology direction.
WHAT YOU BRING
- A combination of 7+ years of experience in IT strategy, account management, or executive technology consulting within an MSP or MSSP environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, or related field preferred.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity, cloud (Microsoft 365, Azure), IT lifecycle management, and business continuity.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with executive decision makers across both enterprise-level organizations and small to mid-sized businesses.
- Strong business writing and presentation skills, with experience developing client-facing documentation such as strategic project proposals, executive summaries, and presentation materials (e.g., slide decks).
- Exceptional interpersonal communication skills and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with technical and non-technical teams (both internally and externally).
- Experience contributing to project management documentation, including statements of work (SOWs), risk assessments, and strategic planning deliverables
- Relevant certifications preferred: A+, Microsoft, ITIL, CISSP, CISM, PMP, etc. but not required.

Compensation:
Pay Range: $85,000.00 - $105,000.00 depending on experience, certifications, and working knowledge.
