About The Job
As an IT System Administrator at Fagron, you will ensure the seamless operation of all technology systems, with a particular emphasis on advanced network security and infrastructure using Fortigate solutions. You will be responsible for the installation, configuration, monitoring, and optimization of Fortigate firewalls and related networking components, alongside traditional system administration duties across on-premise and cloud environments. This position is a remote role; however, the selected candidate must be based in the Pacific Time Zone to ensure alignment with regional business hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization, must be proficient in a VMware environment.
- Proven experience with the installation, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of routers, gateways, firewalls, switches, and other networking infrastructure components.
- Responsible for Azure cloud, including IAAS, PAAS, and SAAS solutions.
- Responsible for backup solutions and DR planning utilizing Azure backup, Veeam, and Datto solutions.
- Provide escalation support to the Technical Support team (Tier 3).
- Perform systems engineering tasks and activities that are concentrated on major systems design, integration, implementation, operations support, and training.
- Work with software vendors to install and configure applications.
- Perform troubleshooting of Exchange online mailbox and message flow issues.
- Identify areas of automation, efficiency, and process improvements.
- Assists Security Team maintaining the company’s anti-virus and security platforms to ensure servers and computers are protected from all forms of malicious software and security intrusions.
- Identify technology needs for continued growth and success of the company, identify proactive solutions, and research and identify new products to improve business efficiency.
- Provide quality assurance review and the evaluation of new and existing software products.
- Provide input to policy level discussions regarding networking and security standards.
- Assist with the creation of system documentation and training materials.
- Cross-train and provide troubleshooting procedures to other IT personnel.

Basic Qualifications
- Positive, courteous, professional, and service oriented attitude.
- Proven experience in the installation and configuration of Highly Available firewalls, including configuration of IPSEC tunnels and internet failover configuration. Fortigate experienced preferred.
- Expert level knowledge required for configuring and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, domain controllers, active directory site configuration, and replication, windows file system structures and share permissions, analysis of system, application, and other event logs.
- Degree in Information Systems or similar and/or 7 years equivalent experience.
- Industry certifications are a plus.
- 5 years’ experience managing Microsoft Server physical and virtual environments.
- Experience managing services or virtual servers in Azure.
- Experience in shell scripting to automate tasks.
- Strong understanding of distribution groups, security groups, O365 groups, Hybrid AD and Azure environments.
- Experience administering SQL databases is a strong plus.
- Experience managing/building VMware environments.
- Experience managing Microsoft Remote Desktop or similar VDI technologies.
- Experience managing hyperconverged infrastructure.
- Experience managing storage arrays or other SAN infrastructure.
- Experience managing network routers, switches, firewalls, access points.
- Strong understanding the OSI model with a concentration on layer 2 network protocols (VLANs and Trunking) and layer 3 protocols (TCP/IP, EIGRP, OSPF) required.
- Experience installing and managing a VOIP phone service. Experience with Avaya and Teams is preferred.
- Experience installing print servers.
- High degree of technical proficiency with excellent problem-solving skills and analytical abilities.
- Must be able to work extended hours when needed.
- Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with people from both technical and non-technical backgrounds.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments to meet deadlines.
- Ability to adapt to new systems, processes and procedures.
