Network & System Administrator

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Network & System Administrator to maintain, support, and enhance our IT network and system infrastructure. This role is responsible for managing servers, network hardware, security, backups, and end-user support, while also planning for future growth and technology upgrades. The ideal candidate is a hands-on professional with strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to support staff across all levels of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and support servers, routers, switches, firewalls, wireless networks, storage systems, virtual servers, desktops, laptops, tablets, printers, and related hardware/software.
- Manage Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
- Monitor and test network performance; identify and resolve performance issues.
- Research and recommend system architecture improvements to support technology upgrades, improve performance, increase efficiency, and reduce costs.
- Assess and plan for short-term and long-term network capacity needs.
- Maintain and update backup systems, archiving processes, and the disaster recovery plan.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of system and network administration policies and procedures.
- Maintain an accurate and up-to-date IT asset inventory.
- Monitor, test, and document network configurations, security settings, processes, and compliance requirements, including Sarbanes–Oxley (SOX) documentation.
- Work with vendors and contractors to procure network products and services.
- Provide support for landline phones and mobile devices.
- Deliver end-user support, including participation in a 24/7 help desk rotation and assisting staff in using systems efficiently.
- Install and manage security patches on all servers.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by IT leadership.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field preferred; or minimum of 5 years of experience as a Network or System Administrator managing complex LAN and server environments.
- Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to engage with staff at all levels to understand technical and business requirements.
- Working knowledge of software patch management and update processes.
- Preferred but not required:
- Certifications such as CCNA, Network+, Security+, Server+, VMware Certified Professional, etc.
- Experience with Sarbanes–Oxley (SOX) compliance.
