Position Overview
We are seeking a visionary and strategic Chief Information Officer (CIO) to architect the future of our technology landscape. This is a pivotal leadership role for an executive who understands that in today's construction environment, technology is not a support function but a fundamental driver of competitive advantage. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive IT strategy that directly enables business growth, enhances operational efficiency, and solidifies our market leadership. You will transform our IT function from a service provider into a strategic partner, building a modern, scalable, and secure technology foundation for the next generation of construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership & Business Alignment: Develop, communicate, and execute a multi-year IT roadmap that is fully aligned with the company's strategic business objectives and growth initiatives.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the executive leadership team, providing insights on how technology can create new opportunities and solve complex business challenges.
- Partner with operations, project management, and estimating teams to understand their unique needs and deliver technology solutions that enhance project delivery.
- Technology Innovation & Business Transformation: Champion innovation by identifying and implementing emerging technologies to optimize construction processes, from pre-construction to project close-out.
- Lead business transformation initiatives, leveraging technology to streamline workflows, improve data-driven decision-making, and enhance collaboration across all project stakeholders.
- Oversee the portfolio of enterprise applications, ensuring they are robust, integrated, and effectively support our core business functions.
- Operational Excellence & Governance: Assume full responsibility for the stability, security, and scalability of the entire IT infrastructure, including networks, data centers, and cloud environments.
- Implement and enforce rigorous IT governance, risk management, and cybersecurity protocols to protect sensitive company and project data.
- Ensure system availability, data integrity, and disaster recovery readiness to support 24/7 project operations across the US.
- Team Leadership & Financial Management: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing IT team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Develop and manage the annual IT budget, ensuring strategic allocation of resources and a strong return on investment.
- Manage vendor relationships, technology partnerships, and contract negotiations to ensure value and service quality.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Progressive experience in IT, with at least 5 years+ in a senior IT leadership role (e.g., CIO, VP of IT, Director of IT).
- Proven track record of developing and executing a successful IT strategy that delivered measurable business value, preferably within the construction, engineering, or a related project-based industry.
- Demonstrated experience in leading large-scale business transformation and system implementation projects.
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing multi-million dollar budgets and vendor relationships.
- Expertise in modern IT domains, including cloud computing (Azure/AWS), cybersecurity, ERP systems, and IT service management.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at the executive level and inspire technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or a related advanced technical degree.
- Relevant industry certifications.
- Direct, hands-on experience with construction-specific software and technologies.
- A background in or deep understanding of civil engineering or construction management principles.
